Emergency CPR in Luccombe Parish

We now have a defibrillator located in the porch of the village hall. The door is unlocked for quick access.

The following volunteers have completed a manual cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course and are available to be contacted in the event of someone in the parish having a heart attack:

  • The first action is to dial 999 and call an ambulance. (There is currently no mobile phone signal in the village but the red phone box can be used to make 999 calls. Internet calls (WiFi Calling/WhatsApp/Skype/FaceTime etc) can be made outside the village hall accessing the free Airband internet in the village hall with the password Airband123 )
  • Secondly call one of the first responders listed below.

Don’t waste time if you can’t raise anyone, start CPR. You really need to start CPR as soon as possible.

  • Thirdly, start performing CPR as best you can

Remember it is unlikely that you will cause more harm than a heart attack as already caused and there is a good chance you will do some good. Even if you are skilled in CPR, it is tiring and stressful intervention so any help you can get will take the pressure off until an ambulance arrives.

If you are a medical professional or qualified to perform CPR and willing to have your contact details posted here please let us know. If you would like to train to use the CPR equipment, the Parish Council are happy to organise CPR and defibrillator courses, please email clerk@luccombe-pc.gov.uk.

Luccombe would like to thank Phil Palmer and Michael Butcher from the Manor House and the Porlock Show Committee for their generous donations towards the cost of the defibrillator. Thanks also to Ros Clements the previous Parish Council clerk who researched, procured and had the defibrillator installed.
